A fair number of people have a kink about getting themselves asphyxiated. This play is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, especially when done alone! I've read that it accounts for nearly 100% of kink-related deaths, something like 100 cases a year in the US if I remember right. It happens often enough that police are taught how to distinguish this from suicide by hanging. Don't ever try it.
Sex ed being what it is in this country, don't expect most people who need this warning ever to hear it. (Except in cases like the well-known man-about-town who died this way here Boston last year; then the story was in the paper.) Pass it on when you get the chance.
